Robert Erwin, Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mr. Erwin has 25 years of worldwide advisory and project finance experience encompassing over $10 billion in transactions for energy, infrastructure and commercial real-estate assets in the U.S., Asia, Australia, Eastern Europe, Mexico and Latin America. Mr. Erwin is a founding principal of Aeicon Corporation Limited, and MaxEn Capital Advisors. He was elected Chairman of the Board of EPIC in 2010.
Richard Heien, CEO
Mr. Heien is the former President and principal owner of Northern Engineering, Inc. in Houston, Texas, former Vice President of Enron Engineering & Construction Company and former President of MaxWest Environmental Systems. Mr. Heien has over 25 years of experience in the development, acquisition, construction, operations and financing of energy industry assets – having been directly involved in the completion of over $2.5 billion of various complex operating facilities.

Robert G. Jackson, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Jackson served as a coal gasification consultant to several northwest US states, coal gasification technology leader for Conoco, and LNG technologist and project engineer for Shell/Conch Methane Services. Mr. Jackson holds over 40 patents on various aspects of energy supply and usage and has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Liverpool.
John Keller, Financial Analyst
Mr. Keller is the former Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Northern Engineering, Inc. in Houston, TX, and the former Chief Financial Officer, Eastern Region, for Enron Energy Services. Mr. Keller has over 20 years experience in corporate finance and management of operating and service-related companies in the construction, engineering, energy and project finance industries. Mr. Keller holds a BA degree and a MBA from the University of Texas.
Howard Margulis, Vice President of Marketing
Mr. Margulis is Vice President of Marketing and General Counsel of MaxEn Capital LLC, a global project finance advisory and capital sourcing firm with more than three decades of successful transactions in the oil, gas, coal (including advanced clean coal technology) sectors with numerous completed projects in North and South America, Asia and Europe. Mr. Margulis was formerly Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Ubequity Capital Partners. Prior to Ubequity, Mr. Margulis was a member of the Energy and Natural Resources Transactions Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and a law partner of several other global firms including Salans (now Dentons), Baker & McKenzie and Holland & Knight LLP. He has participated in some of the largest and most important M&A and project finance energy, natural resource and mining deals of the last 25 years, and has extensive experience with financing and developing technologies in resource location, mining, oil and gas exploration and production, shale gas and shale oil/tar sands processing, fracking, LNG and alternative and renewable energy in the fields of solar, ethanol, biofuel, clean coal/coal gasification, hydro/hydrokinetic and geothermal power production. Mr. Margulis graduated from Northwestern University (B.A., cum laude, 1984) and the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law (J.D., cum laude 1987) where he also completed a joint law and business school program on Energy and Environmental Law.
James O’Hara, Vice President Development Engineering
Mr. O’Hara is a project development professional with over 30 years experience and has held senior engineering and management positions in international project development environments. Experience includes project development, business management and engineering at MaxWest Environmental Systems, Inc, Trove International, LLC, Pernix-Universal LLC, BTEC Turbines, LLC, and Enron International Inc. Mr. O’Hara has managed projects in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Iraq, Kuwait, Nicaragua, Panama and the USA. Mr. O’Hara is a licensed Mechanical Engineer.
Xiaorong Jackson, Senior Engineer
Ms. Jackson is a senior engineer with EPIC and has more than 20 years of design and site construction experience in chemical and petrochemical industrial facilities and more than ten years experience with EPIC’s Clean Coal Gasification System and project development. Before joined EPIC, she was a senior engineer in Hualu Engineering Company (China), During more than twenty years she worked as environmental engineer, safety engineer, process engineer, and in erection work and was involved more than hundreds of project. She developed an extensive background for site selection, process technology and environmental strategy evaluation, environmental impact report preparation, waste water treatment facility design, chemical process design, plant safety strategy evaluation, and construction site management. She holds a qualification of a National Registered Chemical Engineer. She graduated from The Xi’an Architectural Technologies University with a Bachelor Degree of Environmental Engineering.
Harold McLallen, Senior Consultant
Mr. McLallen is a Senior Consultant working with EPIC and MaxEn. Harold has 30 years experience in the development of distributed power projects. He is the founder of multiple companies specializing in utility infrastructure and the building and installation of modular power systems, including Pacific Utility Installation and Power Works. He has served in Senior Sales Management roles in the Caterpillar and Cummins distribution network and has a comprehensive background in reciprocating engines and light turbines. He has developed power solutions and managed power projects for the mining industry on a global basis for Aggreko, a FTSE 100 company, including projects in Africa, Austral-Asia, Middle East and Latin America.
Janet Lee, Administrative Manager
Ms. Lee is currently Administrative Manager with over 16 years of experience across multiple sectors, including family law, insurance, renewable energy and residential real estate and construction, business operations and project development. Born to immigrant parents, Janet is first generation Korean-American and spent most of her life in Honolulu. She speaks conversational Korean and spent time studying abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul Korea. Janet has been an active participant for organizations such as: Community Consulting Partnership, Life Enrichment Options, and Youth for Understanding USA. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration, with a focus on Organizational Behavior from University of Washington.
